Royal VinohradyCC - V - The Medics CC
After waiting for the bohemians to finish off the PCC, we finally got away only an hour late for our second game. Martin did his best Michael Vaughan impersonation to win the toss and then throw away his wicket early on, after setting a 10 runs per over pace with Mik. Then as regular as the number 22 tram, wickets fell with the Medics getting at least a few balls each over on the pitch. No batsman dominated the bowling, and in the 12th over, we were on the ropes,at 8 down, with one man short, and only Gaj waiting to save the day. And that he did with Alistair, who added a nice partnership into the last over of the match, to give us a decent total of 120 runs to defend.
On resumption, Martin and Alistair opened the attack with a bit of swing in the air with the 30+ degree heat. Chasing 6 runs an over to win, the Medics took the slow Boycott method of chasing the total, and it looked all over at the half way mark, with only 2 runs an over run rate. After Scott cleaned up Amir, the danger man, the tail swung the bat and almost caused an upset, with Mo and Udesh playing some nice calipso cricket. With the run rate of 26 needed off the last over, it was still game on, but this was too much for the Medics to chase in the end with Tim and the assistance of Miks quick hands behind the stumps, saw the game draw down to a RVCC win.
I believe fielding practice will be on the cards this Tuesday, as this cost us many runs, and almost the match. All players are also required to pay the club registration of 500Kc, either at training, or before the next league game, against the PCC.
Those members who are not financial, will not be picked for the game if members who have paid are available.
see you all at training...........
